Estidamah Advances Research on Aromatic Properties of Jazan Jasmine
The National Research and Development Center for Sustainable Agriculture (Estidamah), through its branch in Jazan Region, continues its research and applied efforts to study the aromatic properties of the Jazan jasmine.
The center’s branch is collaborating with the Jasmine and Aromatic Plants Association in Jazan Region and Jazan University to conduct experiments to extract oil from jasmine blossoms, including analyzing its chemical composition and exploring opportunities to use it in manufacturing aromatic products with significant economic potential.
Experimental results have confirmed the high quality of the blossoms, revealing a very low concentration of the compound phenyl acetate. Additionally, the oil extract contained phenylethyl alcohol, a compound also present in Taif roses. These findings open new avenues for leveraging these components in the oil and perfume industries, while aligning scientific research outcomes with producers' practical needs.
