OIC Reaffirms its Support for the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to combating terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and its support for the United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy as the primary framework for international cooperation in this field.
The OIC stressed the importance of the strategy remaining balanced and reflecting the priorities of the countries most affected by terrorism.
This came in a statement delivered by Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations Abdulaziz Alwasil, on behalf of the OIC, during the UN General Assembly's plenary session to adopt the Ninth Review of the Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy 2026.
The OIC reiterated its firm rejection of linking terrorism to any religion, ethnicity, or culture, emphasizing the importance of strengthening international cooperation to confront evolving terrorist threats, in accordance with the principles of the UN Charter and international law.
