
Saudi Arabia Elevates Air Sports with Paragliding Resumption
The Saudi Paragliding Federation announced that Minister of Sport Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal has approved the resumption of paragliding activities in the Kingdom, following the completion of regulatory requirements and coordination with relevant authorities to ensure the highest standards of safety, discipline, and professionalism.
The federation stated that this move is part of broader efforts to position Saudi Arabia as a regional and global hub for air sports, aligning with Vision 2030 goals to diversify and enhance the national sports sector.
It noted that over the past period, organizational frameworks and safety regulations have been developed in cooperation with official authorities and specialized experts to ensure a secure environment for both amateurs and professionals, thereby supporting the sport's sustainable growth.
The federation revealed plans to launch advanced training programs and competitive events for both amateur and professional athletes. It also intends to host international tournaments to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and best practices. These efforts aim to strengthen the capabilities of national talent, broaden participation, and attract international partnerships that will contribute to the long-term development of paragliding in the Kingdom.
