Madinah Development Authority Presents SDG Localization Experience at UN High-Level Political Forum

Al Madinah Region Development Authority (MDA) presented its experience in localizing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and its practices in using data to support urban development and improve quality of life in Madinah, in a session at the 2026 High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development at UN Headquarters in New York.
The MDA highlighted Madinah's progress in developing an integrated urban data analysis system linked to the SDGs. The system enables investment, policies, and development initiatives to be directed according to each neighborhood's needs, improving urban planning efficiency and quality of life.
The MDA also presented a recommendation for a global initiative built on three pillars, namely systemic, governance, and technical, aimed at enabling cities to bridge the gap between official reports and on-the-ground development realities at the neighborhood level, accelerating SDG achievement and knowledge exchange among cities worldwide.
