Essity Global Strengthens Commitment to Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 with New Regional Headquarters in Riyadh
Saudi Arabia has emerged as a strategic growth market for healthcare transformation under Vision 2030. Establishing Essity’s new regional headquarters for its Health & Medical business in Riyadh reflects the company’s long-term aspirations in the Middle East.
Under Vision 2030, Saudi Arabia plans to invest over US$65 billion to develop the country’s healthcare infrastructure. This milestone underlines Essity’s alignment with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 ambitions to shape the future of healthcare in this strategic market.
Regional Headquarters
Bjorn Carlzon, Business Director Middle East, Africa & West Asia – Essity Health & Hygiene, stated to Riyadh Daily that the Riyadh headquarters brings the company closer to its customers, healthcare partners and patients, enabling it to serve them in the best way through trusted brands and superior innovations. He added that anchoring Essity’s operations in Riyadh and working closely with partners allows collaboration to elevate healthcare standards, strengthen access to high-quality health and medical solutions, and shape the future of healthcare in this strategic market.
As part of its commitment to the Saudi market, Essity also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with leading healthcare distributors Tamer Group and DMSCO. The collaboration aims to elevate healthcare standards and strengthen access to high-quality health and medical solutions across the Kingdom.
Future Expansion
Carlzon explained that building on its presence in Riyadh, Essity’s ambition is to contribute to elevating healthcare standards and shaping a healthier future across the Middle East. He noted opportunities to broaden access to trusted brands and innovations such as TENA, our global leading brand in incontinence care, Cutimed and Leukoplast for wound healing, JOBST, the number one brand globally for lymphatic conditions such as lymphedema, lipedema and chronic venous disease, and Actimove and Delta-Cast for orthopedic care, while also strengthening partnerships that support the region’s long-term health and well-being.
Regional Healthcare Challenges
Carlzon highlighted that based on Essity’s expertise, two key healthcare challenges are evident. From a societal perspective, The region faces a growing prevalence of chronic diseases such as diabetes, urinary incontinence, pressure ulcers, and lymphatic conditions like lymphedema, lipedema and chronic venous disease – conditions that often carry stigma or low awareness on how to optimally treat or manage them. Essity aims to improve quality of life through trusted brands and superior innovations that support dignity, confidence, and well-being, while also partnering with providers to drive education and awareness.
On the healthcare provider level, he highlighted pressures on expenditure, the need for sustainable procurement and responsible consumption in healthcare – areas where Essity is uniquely placed to drive responsible advancement – and expectations of higher-quality care. Essity partners with providers to improve outcomes at a sustainable cost, support efficiency with digital health technologies, and deliver world-class training and education across therapy areas.
Market Differentiation
Carlzon emphasized that as a global hygiene and health leader present in around 150 countries, Essity’s portfolio includes market-leading brands such as TENA, the global leader in incontinence care, JOBST, the world’s number one brand for lymphatic conditions, alongside Cutimed and Leukoplast for wound care, and Actimove and Delta-Cast for orthopedic care. This diverse portfolio enables the company to provide integrated solutions across multiple therapy areas.
He also stressed Essity’s commitment to sustainability, noting its recognition by Corporate Knights as one of the world’s 100 most sustainable companies, representing the top 1% of companies worldwide in terms of sustainability performance. Innovations such as TENA SmartCare, which alerts caregivers via mobile app when product changes are needed, were highlighted as part of the company’s approach to deliver dignity, efficiency, and sustainability in healthcare.
Commitment to Saudi Arabia
Carlzon confirmed that the company aims to improve the quality of life for patients and consumers with trusted brands and innovations, while partnering with providers to enhance efficiency, sustainability, and training.
