U.S. Congress Honors the Secretary General of the Muslim World League in Recognition of the MWL's Efforts to Combat Hatred
In recognition of the MWL’s efforts to combat hate and promote coexistence among religious communities, Republican and Democratic members of the U.S. Congress honored His Excellency the Secretary General of the Muslim World League (MWL), Chairman of the Muslim Scholars Association, Sheikh Dr. Muhammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, at the U.S. Capitol building in Washington, D.C.
A number of members of both the House of Representatives and the Senate signed the certificate of honor, commending the MWL’s efforts, which have strengthened the social fabric of diversity by reducing conflict and division, particularly its international initiatives focused on confronting racist attitudes that threaten the security and dignity of followers of religions and ethnic groups.
Leaders of the Muslim community, who attended the ceremony, described the recognition as an honor for all members of the Muslim community in the United States, noting that it represents the first event of its kind at the U.S. Capitol.
Commenting on the honor, Sheikh Dr. Al-Issa stated that the efforts being recognized reflect Islamic values that call for peace in our world and harmony within societies. He emphasized the MWL’s continued work to promote positive and effective dialogue among all parties, in support of a culture of understanding, awareness, and cooperation, grounded in the recognition of the Creator’s wisdom in the inevitable diversity of our world, and in fostering mutual understanding of differences and addressing them with conscious, civilized reasoning rather than the logic of conflict and confrontation.
Members of the U.S. Congress also delivered remarks during the ceremony, highlighting the MWL’s efforts in light of the occasion and the reasons behind the recognition.
