KFSHRC Ranks First in Middle East in Oncology and Orthopedics for 2026

King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre (KFSHRC) in Riyadh has been ranked first in the Middle East in oncology and orthopedics in Newsweek’s Best Specialized Hospitals: Middle East 2026 rankings, produced in collaboration with Statista. The achievement reflects the hospital’s leadership as a leading regional institution in specialized healthcare and reinforces the Kingdom’s standing in the global health sector.
According to a press release issued by the KFSHRC today, the Newsweek ranking is based on three main pillars: expert recommendations collected through an international survey of healthcare professionals and hospital leaders; general and specialty-specific accreditations and certifications; and patient-reported outcome measures assessing improvements in quality of life and the ability to perform daily activities following treatment.
This ranking comes in a year during which KFSHRC achieved notable advancements in advanced therapies and precision surgery. The hospital has treated more than 200 patients through its T-cell therapy program since its launch in 2021 and inaugurated Saudi Arabia’s first gene and cell therapy manufacturing facility to expand local access and support technology localization. It also recorded a global first in robotic surgery for the removal of an intracranial brain tumor, with the patient discharged within 24 hours of the procedure.
The release added that KFSHRC’s prominent position in Newsweek’s list of the region’s best specialized hospitals is attributed to the initiatives of the Health Sector Transformation Program, one of the programs of Saudi Vision 2030 launched by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. The ranking stands as a testament to the high level of healthcare services provided in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre was previously ranked first in the Middle East and Africa and 15th globally among the world’s top 250 academic medical centers for 2025. It was also recognized as the most valuable healthcare brand in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East according to Brand Finance 2024, and listed in Newsweek’s rankings of the World’s Best Hospitals for 2025, the World’s Best Smart Hospitals for 2026, and the World’s Best Specialized Hospitals for 2026.
